Audio Physic has always been driven by the aim of offering special products, standing out from the mainstream and further developing the loudspeaker domain. The company, which is based in Brilon, Germany, has triggered the discussion concerning time-correct sound reproduction like never before, with the exception of Jim Thiel, and can now boast a history that spans 25 years and contains a number of highlights. The company history has also seen some bizarre and extreme products, but has never failed to create innovative loudspeakers that produce sounds based on an audible philosophy, giving them a distinct profile.
오디오피직은 항상 대중적인 스피커에서 벗어나는 특별한 제품을 제시하고 스피커 영역을 보다 발전시키는 목표를 추구해왔다. 독일 브릴론에 위치한 동사는 틸 스피커의 창시자 [짐 틸]과 마찬가지로 음의 도달 시간이 정확한 사운드의 재생에 관한 논쟁을 촉발시켜 왔는데, 이제 25년의 역사를 자랑하며 수 많은 히트 제품을 보유하고 있다.  동사는 이상한 모양과 극단적인 제품도 출시한 적이 있다. 그럼에도 항상 음향철학에 근거를 둔 사운드를 재생하는 혁신적인 스피커를 창조해 왔으며 그것이 동사의 특징적인 프로필이다.

An excellent all-round loudspeaker (다양한 장르에 맞는 우수한 스피커)

The Audio Physic commitment to creating focused developments to enhance audiophile virtues has earned the company a perfect reputation, not only among music fans in Germany, but also, and in particular, further afield. In the USA, for example, Audio Physic is considered to be the pinnacle of German loudspeaker construction. This is certainly due to the fact that the manufacturer understands how to integrate its individual concepts into products that are suitable for everyday use.
동사는 오디오파일 덕목을 향상시키는 제품들의 집중적인 개발을 통해 독일 내의 수 많은 음악 팬들뿐 만 아니라 먼 나라에 이르기 까지 명성을 떨치게 되었다. 한가지 예로서, 미국에는 오디오피직은 독일 스피커의 최고봉으로 인식되고 있다. 이렇게 된 것은 분명히 동사가 일상 생활에 적합한 각기 다른 개념들을 자사의 제품에 성공적으로 결합할 방법을 알고 있기 때문일 것이다.

A perfect example of this ability is the Tempo loudspeaker, which costs just under 3000 Euro per pair and is currently in its sixth generation, having developed, since its introduction in 1986, from a specialised two-way bookshelf loudspeaker to a standing model that can be used in practically every room. The Tempo enables listeners to enjoy almost all kinds of music, whatever the genre. Indeed, the current Tempo model was tested in the 11/08 edition of STEREO and proved to be an extremely capable musical all-rounder with a lightly rounded timbre.
동사의 그런 능력을 보여주는 예로서 템포 스피커가 있다. 3000 유로 미만의 일반 템포 스피커 (Temp VI)는 1986년 북쉘프 스피커로 처음 출시된 이래 지금의 플로어 스탠딩 스피커로 변신하여 6세대째를 이어 오고 있다. 템포(Tempo VI)는 어느 장르의 음악이든지 거의 모든 음악을 들을 수 있는 스피커이다. 2008년 11월판 STEREO 리뷰에서 테스트한 바와 같이 이 템포 스피커는 모든 음악을 완벽하게 소화시킬 수 있는 전방위 스피커로 입증되었다.

It sets itself apart from the Virgo, the extremely precise ”acoustic magnifying glass”, which shows no mercy in exposing mistakes and, so to speak, purely personifies the sound principle behind Audio Physic products. The gap between the Tempo and the larger model at exactly twice the price is now being closed thanks to the arrival of the revamped special Birthday edition, the Tempo 25, on the market, which by no means replaces the normal Tempo, but does indeed complement it. The most striking and almost the only externally noticeable difference is the inclusion of the new cone tweeter which is crossed over at 2800 Hertz with a sharp octave slope and has an aluminium membrane edged with a thin layer of foam, which dampens first reflections.
템포와 비르고는 차별화된다. 비르고는 엄청나게 정확한 “음향학적인 확대경”처럼 음악의 실수를 가차없이 드러낸다. 달리 말하자면, 비르고는 오디오피직 제품들의 배경인 사운드 철칙을 순수하게 드러내 준다. 템포와 비르고의 가격 차이는 두 배 정도인데 이제 25주년 특별기념 모델인 템포25로 인하여 그 가격 차이가 많이 좁혀졌다.  템포25는 Tempo VI를 대체하는 모델이 아니라 보완하는 모델이다. 템포25의 가장 두드러지고 눈의 띄는 차이점은 새로운 콘 트위터의 채택이다. 크로스오버 주파수는 2.8킬로 헤르츠이다. 이 트위터는 알루미늄 콘으로 되어 있는데, 콘으로 부터의 일차적인 반사음을 죽여주는 역할을 하는 얇은 발포 층으로 가장자리를 이루고 있다.
　

Like the Tempo midrange driver, which is also used in the Virgo loudspeaker, the tweeter is produced by Wavecor, a dedicated driver manufacturer founded by Allan Isaksen, formerly one of the top dogs at Vifa. Wavecor was able to produce the complex driver exactly according to the requirements produced by Manfred Diestertich, the chief designer at Audio Physic, who had taken his plans from pillar to post to no avail before finding success with Wavecor.
템포25의 미드레인지 (Virgo의 미드레인지와 동일하다)와 트위터는 Wavecor 사가 생산한다. 이 회사는 한때 Vifa 최고 경영자 중의 하나였던 Allan Isaksen씨가 설립한 유니트 전문 생산업체이다. 트위터는 오디오피직의 수석 디자이너인 Manfred Diestertich가 개발한 것인데 그의 사양에 맞추어 완벽하게 생산할 수 있는 업체가 Wavecor이며, 이 회사를 만나고 나서야 그의 계획은 성공할 수 있었다.

The Brilon-based company has named this driver the HHCT 2, more precisely the "Hyper Holographic Cone Tweeter". Just like the HHCM (in which the M stands for ‘midrange’), the tweeter’s basket is made up of two frames: an inner basket made of a special plastic and an outer metal basket. This basket design aims to guarantee the ideal levels of rigidity, resonance damping and cooling. The system is ventilated at the back and is now mounted in its own chamber. Needless to say, adjustments also needed to be made to the newly symmetrically designed crossover network. This gives rise to another reason as to why normal Tempo models cannot be refitted: involve far too much time and effort.
오디오피직은 이 트위터를 HHCT2라고 명명했는데 좀 더 자세히 설명한다면 "Hyper Holographic Cone Tweeter" 라는 뜻이다. 미드레인지 유니트인 HHCM (M 은 MIDRANGE)와 마찬가지로 트위터의 바스켓은 두 개의 프레임으로 구성되어 있다. 안쪽의 바스켓은 특수한 플라스틱 재질의 바스켓이며, 외부의 바스켓은 금속 바스켓이다. 이러한 이중 바스켓 구조는 견고성, 울림 억제, 냉각 등 3가지 면에서 이상적인 수준을 달성할 수 있다. 후면 통풍구를 통해 통풍이 되도록 되어 있고, 트위터 전용의 독립된 챔버에 설치된다. 물론 새로운 유니트에 맞추어 크로스오버도 조정되어 되어야 한다. 이러한 이유로 종전 템포 (Tempo VI)는 템포25으로 변경할 수 없다. 그러자면 훨씬 많은 시간과 노력이 필요하기 때문이다.

Another important alteration can be found in the single-wire connection terminal, which is dampened by Neoprene. In the “25”, Audio Physic has replaced the more simple jack made by the specialist company WBT, based in Essen, Germany, with the higher quality “nextgen” version.
또 다른 중요한 변경 사항은 네오프렌 고무로 댐핑된 연결단자다. 템포25에 있어서 종전의 WBT 단자는 고급의 Nextgen으로 바뀌었다.

This feature is no minor adjustment, but an essential improvement that is purely consistent with the top quality driver. At a workshop with a specially prepared Virgo model, in which these exact WBT contacts could simply be swapped over, we were shown that the “nextgen” version most definitely provides increased homogeneity and resolution and, in particular, better spatial imaging. 
이것은 조그만 일이지만 최상급 드라이브 유니트에 걸맞은 긴요한 품질향상이라고 본다. 특별히 준비된 비르고에 이 두 단자를 번갈아 바꾸어 보는 시험에서 Nextgen이 동질감에서 월등히 나았고, 특히 해상도, 임장감에서 뛰어 났다.

HHCT brings clarity (HHCT 트위터가 명료함의 근원)

It could even be said that the Tempo’s fantastic midrange driver only reaches its full potential in the “25” model. At any rate, this is the conclusion drawn when it is compared to the Virgo fitted with the same “nextgen” components. In terms of midrange projection, the normal Tempo model clearly does not reach the advanced level of the Virgo in terms of resolution and three dimensionality, despite the Tempo’s “Holographic Midrange”, as was indicated in its more compact and flatter delivery of Christy Baron’s “Overjoyed” from the STEREO Review CD V.

Nevertheless, the Tempo 25 almost turns the tables on the other loudspeaker. Not only does it reproduce the bass range with more spatial depth than is the case in the standard model, thus delivering more realistic front-and-back localization, it also removes the light haze covering the entire sound. It is almost as if a slight noise disappears all of a sudden, indicating that the HHCT is able to achieve extremely low distortion.
그러나 템포25는 형세를 거의 역전시킨다. 저역은 표준 템포 모델(Tempo VI)에 비해 더욱 입체감 있는 깊이를 지녀 보다 현실감 있는 전후 임장감을 살려 내면서 전 대역에 걸쳐 얇게 깔린 운무를 거두어 내버린다. 그것은 마치 조그마케 들리던 잡음이 갑자기 사라질 때의 느낌인데, HHCT 트위터가 아주 낮은 디스토션을 달성할 수 있음을 의미한다.

At any rate, the musical performance of the special edition Tempo features a considerably smoother and more stable sound basis, which facilitates a better overview and clarity against a less disturbed ‘black’ background that produces a more distinct portrayal of the fine sound details.
아무튼 템포25 특별 모델의 음악적 성능은 상당히 부드럽고 보다 안정적인 사운드 바탕을 두고 있어 사운드의 섬세한 부분들을 보다 또렷하게 그려낸다.

In this case, even the Virgo, which previously kept the Tempo 25 at bay due to its slightly more radiant and relaxed musicality, falls slightly behind. Although it is a master of definition and explosive displays of sound, the revamped Tempo seems to be more airy, more detailed and simultaneously smoother where the higher frequencies are concerned, ‘letting the sound flow’. This effect is well known to Audio Physic, hence why upgrades to both the Virgo and the more expensive Avanti involves equipping them with the HHCT.
템포25에 비해 보다 현란하고 아늑한 음악성이 앞선 비르고도 이 점에 있어서는 템포25에 약간 뒤처진다. 비록 비르고가 사운드의 해석능력과 폭발적인 펼침에 있어서 발군이긴 하지만, 템포25는 보다 공간감이 있으며, 보다 섬세하며, 고역에 관한 한 보다 부드러워서 사운드가 물 흐르듯 한다. 이런 장점은 오디오피직에 널리 알려져서 이 때문에 비르고와 아반티의 업그레이드는 HHCT를 장착하고 있다.

The bass precision also benefits (저역의 정확성도 잇점이다)

The bass range of the “25” also profits from the increased resolution, accuracy and richness in detail to a certain extent. In comparison to the standard Tempo model it has more punch and edge, although the depth is the same. In terms of the bass-related construction, however, nothing has changed. The speakers are still fired by 7” woofers that cover frequencies below 150 Hertz, have an aluminium diaphragm, are supported by a rear bass reflex port and can be found in the side walls of the cabinet, which tilts backwards at an angle of exactly 7fi, in order to produce a level offset between the midrange driver and tweeter, thus equalizing phase differences in their response characteristics.
템포25의 저역은 한결 해상도가 증가되었고 정확도와 풍성함이 어느 정도 향상되었다. 일반 템포(Tempo VI)에 비해 저역의 깊이는 같지만 펀치와 엣지는 더 강하다. 그러나 저역의 구성 면에서는 달라진 것은 없다. 7인치 우퍼에 150 헤르츠 크로스 오버 주파수도 같다.  우퍼는 알루미늄 콘으로 되어 있고, 캐비닛의 측면에 설치되어 있으며, 후면에 저음반사구가 있다. 캐비닛은 뒤로 7도 기울어져 있는데 그렇게 함으로서 중역과 트위터 간의 위상 차이가 없어진다.

At a price of around 3750 Euro per pair, the Tempo 25 moves significantly closer to the level of its bigger and more prominent sibling, the Virgo. When purchasing the Tempo 25, it is well worth spending an extra 240 Euro or so on two sets of four of Audio Physic’s “Vibration Control Feet”, which facilitate the production of more natural midrange tones and more lively rhythmics compared to the spikes delivered with the speakers, which tend to lead to a slightly harsh and brittle reproduction of the light and delicate sound.
Tempo25의 가격은 상급 모델인 비르고에 육박한다. 템포25를 구입할 때는 VCF(Vibration Control Feet)를 추가하여 구입하는 것이 좋은데, 이것은 스피커에 딸려 오는 스파이크에 비할 때 좀더 자연스러운 중역과 좀 더 생동감 있는 리듬을 재연해 주기 때문이다.

These feet simply need to be screwed into the metal stands that give the slim loudspeaker its high stability and then, and this step is essential, tightened with a bolt from above and finally concealed by the plastic cover.
이 피트의 설치 방법은 금속스탠드에 스크류를 돌려 주기만 하면 되는데, 그 다음으로 중요한 것은 위에서 볼트를 조여 주고 마지막으로 플라스틱 카바로 덮어 준다.

Even on soft floor coverings, these feet ensure that your Tempo 25, which is additionally very easy to set up, will perform perfectly. Of course, the normal model can also benefit from these "VCF” but if it’s true controlled speed’ that you're looking for, you should turn to the special edition model. After all, it is only with the Tempo 25 that you can fully join in with and benefit from the Audio Physic Birthday celebrations.
